I'm sure some folks will call FAIL or point this out as invalid, but Had thought I might grab another night blade, but apparently folks have found the procs don't stack, but then again two might help them build 3/3, with executioner on both that would be a nice peeler. Get nice damage this way, discovered myself with highest killing blows & damage (on horde side) after first run in a bg with this little idea :) This wasy I have 2 poison set ups that can swap easily, and can swap to the exec/night blade setup to peel armor then switch back to swords with maybe 3 points, hit slice & dice and dual proc mongoose. Night blade/merc shiv ench'd with dual executioner Merc slicer/merc shanker ench'd with dual mongoose Macro works great, can swap in middle of fight back and forth: I set up a macro for my rogue (subtlety) to swap main off/hand weapons from merc slicer/merc shanker -> Night blade/merc shiv. this dagger can go dowĬomment by 223361I grabbed one off the AH, playing around with armor peeling. hope it helps.ītw, price for any item has a variation, and it depends from seller to seller, buyer to buyer. I know exactly how sad it makes you when this nerf happened, but the point is to look at this nerf this way, the dagger is no longer amazing, it's average amazing. Just want to add, people shouldn't consider this to be useless now, it is nerfed but not nerfed to the point it's useless. In any case, as long as the night's blade is still a BOE world epic, it will still be valueable, maybe just not as powerful as the kara daggers or arena reward weapon, gladiator shanker. although in a 20 minute fight against a boss, it would potentially reduce their dps, but i dont think this is realy a rogue's job, bonus armor/resistence is what reduces the armor, not the minimal 10 percent speed reduction. Of course, i did not include the -10 percent attack speed debuff, i do not consider it to be, for a rogue that PVE, u are supposed to finish the fight quick and not take too much damage, so slow their attack speed in a 15 seconds fight is entirely negligible. To me I would really choose the night blade over riftmaker, as the proc has the potential of giving -1300 armor in a long fight, and the nerf might even be reversed as a lot of people are complainning. So in conclusion, i would think consider the night blade is a world drop though very rare, and the riftmaker can only be obtained by running hours and hours of BM, even after the nerf, the night blade is still a wonderful weapon, and if you are looking to progress towards end game raid, this dagger wil definitely make your progression a lot faster. now the +3 weapon damage was calculated wihtout considering amror, so taking into consideration the armor damage reduction, the +3 damage would probably be about 1.8 damage bonus each striike. whcih means if let's say you do 2k damage from eviserate after armro reduction, the -435 armro will apply to the 2k damage directly and increase it by about 2 percent according to my assuption. remember that my analysis of the damage bonus from night blade was based on the damage bonus after damage reduction from armor. So essentially, riftmaker gives +3 weapon damage each hit.Īnd before you decide to reach a conclusion. understand that 41 attack power translate into 3 total weapon damage and plus a little bit critical strike bonus from teh 21 agility. Now let's compare it with the Riftmaker which essentially the same DPS but with 21 agility and 20 AP, which gives an overall 41 attack power. this is to assume it only procs once and it does not take into consideration the extra -560(8 armor reduction per level) from serrated blades. Īssuming the 7 percent proc rate, and the scenario thatyou can get one proc off a decent amount of the time and given that your normal white dmaage is about 200-300, so a two percent damage bonus would give you about 6 damage more each hit. Now that we understand what this proc really means, let's evalueate how good this dagger really is even after the nerf. Therefore, it would not be wrong to assume in a very general term that the dagger's proc gives you +2 percent (at least) overall damage. this means that for a cloth/leather weare who has 1k to 2k armor, -435 damage reduction means up to 5 percent total over damage reduction, whereas the effect of -435 damage reduction would be less if the target were a plate wearer. To evaluate how effective the -435 armor (only proc once) is, let's think about how armor works.Īrmor translates into damage reduction, and as the armor value goes up, the corresponding increase in damage reduction slows down. Let's assume for a minute that the night blade only proc once, and it reduce 435 armor. Comment by amaterasuI think although the dagger's proc rate was significantly nerfed, it would still be a very good weapon to either use in main hand or in offhand.
